NASA Earth Comes to the Arcade
EVL’s Arcade display wall now runs NASA Earth, mission control for Earth, powered by NASA Earth observing missions. The Hyperwall streams a 30 minute loop of near-real-time dashboards, impact stories, and science-based visualizations to large screens.
The content comes from earth.gov, NASA’s Earth Information Center, whose public exhibits are installed at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. At EVL the loop cycles through disaster monitoring and response maps, recent event models, the Image of the Day, and current measurements of global temperature and sea level.
The software was installed at EVL/UIC by Brenda Lopez Silva. The Arcade is part of the Data Observation and Computation Collaboratory (DOCC), supported by National Science Foundation award #2320261.
