Science, Culture and Education over Internet2
The international meeting, Science, Culture, and Education over Internet2, April 4 - 6, 2001 will be held at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, located in the historical city of Valparaíso, Chile.
Integrating the scientific and university communities with applications of the next generation Internet are the central goals of Science, Culture, and Education over Internet2.
The meeting will be broadcast in simultaneous time to the videoconference rooms of seven of the nine universities of REUNA Consortium that are part of Universidad Virtual (U. Austral de Chile, U. de Atacama, U. de Concepción, U. de La Serena, U. del Bío Bío, U. Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación and U. Tecnológica Metropolitana).
EVLers, Brenda Silva, Javier Girado, and Greg Dawe will demonstrate Tele-immersion applications using an ImmersaDesk2 from the international meeting in Chile to UIC. Applications will include:
- The Virtual Temporal Bone G2, Manipulation of Volumetric Patient Data in a Distributed Virtual Reality Environment, Virtual Reality in Medicine Laboratory, UIC (Fred Dech)
- Earthquake Hypocenters, Earthquake Tomography, Space Physics / Space Weather, EVL / UIC (Jason Leigh), Geology and Geophysics Department, University of Minnesota (Paul Morin), Geology Department, University of Michigan (Peter van Keken)
